The hallmark of a CFI-certified installation isn't just the floor itself—it's how perfectly that floor meets your walls, doorways, and existing surfaces. At Top Floor Co., we obsess over the details to deliver a flawless, cohesive final product.
The right baseboard frames your new floor and protects your walls. We offer a variety of materials to suit your specific environment:
MDF (Medium-Density Fiberboard): Provides a perfectly smooth, modern finish that paints beautifully and resists warping.
Solid Wood: The premium choice for ultimate durability, classic aesthetics, and high-impact areas.
Vinyl Cove Base: The industry standard for our commercial clients and multi-family properties. This waterproof, durable trim is the perfect, sanitary finish for wet areas, breakrooms, and heavy-traffic business environments.
When upgrading from a thick flooring (like old carpet) to a sleek, modern hard surface, the overall height of your floor will drop. This often exposes an unsightly old paint line on the wall or leaves a noticeable gap under your existing trim.
To guarantee a pristine finish, we highly suggest installing new baseboards alongside your hard surface installation. (Note: If you are simply upgrading to new carpet, this is rarely an issue, as we typically do not need to remove your existing baseboards during a carpet install.)
To save you the hassle of hiring a separate painting crew, we offer comprehensive, pre-painted woodwork services. We can upgrade and install your new baseboards, door trim, and window trim in one seamless process for a complete room transformation.
A clumsy transition can ruin the look of a floor and create a dangerous tripping hazard. We use precise, manufacturer-specific transitions to connect your spaces flawlessly. Here is a simple guide to what we use and why:
T-Transitions: Used when transitioning between two hard surface floors that sit at the exact same level. This creates a smooth, flush bridge between the rooms.
Reducers: Used when the new floor meets a surface that is lower or higher. The reducer creates a gentle slope down or up, completely eliminating tripping hazards.
End Caps: Used to cleanly finish the edge of a floor where it meets a sliding glass door, an exterior threshold, or when a manufacturer specifically requires a transition at a doorway.
Quarter Round: Often special-ordered directly from the manufacturer to perfectly match the color and grain of your new flooring, used to cover the required expansion gaps at the base of your cabinets or trim.
Metal Transitions: A highly cost-effective, heavy-duty option available in various neutral colors. These are perfect for transitioning from carpet to hard surfaces, or bridging two hard surfaces in high-use areas.
All manufacturer-matching transitions are special ordered for your project. However, if you are installing "dead stock," discontinued flooring, or a product that no longer offers matching trim, we have you covered. We can custom-make and mill any transition type directly at our warehouse or right on the job site to ensure you get the exact finish your home deserves.
